J is for Judge Not!

Dear Diary,

For J, I recommend : Judge Not!

As human beings, we all naturally judge the other person based on their actions, their appearance, their conduct etc. I think that’s why the saying ‘First impression is the last impression’ came into being, because one is judged on his/her first appearance. What is worst is that one person’s judgement passes on to the other.

Often I hear things about people, but I do not allow it to colour my opinion of the person in question.

We would not like to be put up on a pedestal and scrutinized for our actions, why do it to somebody else? Let people be, the way they are. Accept them for who they are and not how you picture them to be. Someone once quoted this beautiful saying by Mother Teresa : “If you judge people, you have no time to love them.

So STOP JUDGING, START LOVING!!

Leaving you with a nice quote I found :

  1. Not judging on first impressions is always a good idea - everyone has bad days sometimes and also people who have been hurt often hide.

  4. Your words are true, but sometimes difficult to implement. All we can do is continue to practice, right?

  5. good words! My father was so judgemental- always about people who had just stepped out of the room. I finally asked him- "so dad why don't you tell me what you say about me when I am not in this room." I have no patience for that nonsense...

  6. I'm not a religious person, but the one thing I try to always remember is not to judge anyone. I don't know their motives or what's in their hearts, so judging them is pointless.

  8. This is a lovely sentiment, and I so agree. You never know what's happening in someone's life - better to listen and learn than judge!

  9. Great sentiment indeed - it can be quite easy to jump to conclusions without waiting to hear the full story. Those who at least strive to keep an open mind and get the full story are who I strive to be like.

  10. Wonderful ideas here. It's a terrible thing to judge people when we don't know the full story, plus we make them feel bad.

  12. It's always worth stopping for a moment and wondering what the other person is going through that might temporarily be affecting the way they come across in any given moment.

  13. Amen, amen, Amen! That is one of my favorite Mother Teresa quotes. How can we judge others harshly when we are far from perfect ourselves. We all need to learn to be more compassionate, more accepting. Beautiful post, Judy Girl!
